Berk Enterprises explores site in Vienna | News, Sports, Jobs
VIENNA – Berk Enterprises Inc., the Warren-based company that distributes products to the food service and entertainment industries, plans to consolidate its corporate headquarters and warehouse operations near the Youngstown Warren Regional Airport.
“The intention is to build a new building, a large building to meet our current needs as well as our future needs” Robert Berk, chairman, said after the Western Reserve Port Authority on Wednesday agreed to sell his business the 36 acres on Ridge Road.
The sale is for $ 295,000.
The land, next to the Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County west of the airport, is just minutes from National Road 11 and is also close to National Road 82. It has been owned for years to the port authority, but has not been developed.
“We didn’t do anything at all with that” said John Moliterno, CEO of the Port Authority. “Of course, it’s outside of our fence, outside of our field of action. We were approached by the regional chamber (Youngstown / Warren), who was showing the property around the community to a man who wanted to set up a distribution center.
The sale was reviewed by the Federal Aviation Administration, which had no objections.
It is too early at this point to say the size of the building, the dollar investment or the construction schedule, Berk said.
“This land purchase is something that we have been trying to seal for some time and not for it to happen finally, we can start to focus on the next steps which is getting the bigger building designed and created. , “ said Yuck.
Berk Enterprises, headquartered on Thomas Road SE, Warren, was founded over 60 years ago. It also rents space at the Ohio Commerce Center in Lordstown.
Today, according to its website, it operates Berk Paper and Supply, a regional distributor of disposable foodservice, cleaning and maintenance supplies; Berk Concession Supply, which provides stock and custom plates, cups and other items to the entertainment industry; and Berkley Square, which supplies, in part, bulk and packaged cutlery kits.
Anthony Trevena, Port Authority Chief Operating Officer, said: “Berk has really explored expanding his footprint for a while. It’s really exciting to have them next to the airport.
