CW names Rebekah Dopp executive vice president of distribution, strategy and affiliations

Nextstar hired a new executive in its overhaul of the C.W. network: that of Google Rebecca Dopp joined the broadcaster as executive vice president of distribution, strategy and affiliate relations.

Most recently global head of diversity, equity and inclusion, brand and reputation at Google, Dopp will now lead negotiation and management. CTdistribution and overseeing affiliate relationships with its station group partners as Nexstar, led by Perry Sook, continues to shape its new acquisition for the future.

Effective immediately, Dopp begins her new role, reporting to Dana Zimmer, President and Chief Distribution and Strategy Officer of Nexstar Media Group, Inc., and Dennis Miller, the recently appointed President of The CW Network. Miller took over from longtime CW chief Mark Pedowitz after Nexstar shut down majority acquisition of the broadcaster from Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global in October.

“Rebekah is a leader and strategic thinker who will bring an incredible skill set to The CW,” Zimmer said. “She has both depth and breadth of experience in the worlds of linear, digital and streaming, and will be a formidable presence leading the CW Network’s cast.”

“I am thrilled to begin working with Rebekah as she takes on her new role,” added Miller. “She understands the industry and is intimately familiar with our network partners – she will be a tremendous asset to The CW as we begin to discuss our programming developments with them.”

Prior to his role at Google, Dopp held senior roles in affiliate relations at CBS Television and HBO.

“The CW Network, coupled with Nexstar’s diverse media portfolio, reach and dedication to localism, is an unbeatable combination,” Dopp said. “I can’t wait to get back to broadcasting and there’s no better place than Nexstar to do it.”
