23KM2: Collector Anudeep D held a teleconference in Kothagudem on Saturday.

Kothagudem: The distribution of goods to Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries in the district would take place in Khammam on April 26, District Collector Anudeep Durishetty informed.

Social Affairs Minister Koppula Eshwar and Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar would distribute the assets to selected beneficiaries. Additional Collector and SC Corporation ED have been responsible for making all arrangements for the distribution program.

Durishetty on Saturday held a teleconference with SC Corporation officials, special officers at mandal and ward level, municipal commissioners and MPDOs to review the process of grounding Dalit Bandhu units.

There was a visible lack of understanding among the beneficiaries in the selection of units. Many beneficiaries opted for vehicles and they would become inefficient if not operated on the intended lines. Priority should be given to the service sector rather than the transport sector, he suggested.

There was a need for agricultural equipment such as harvesters in the district. Farmers in the district depended on other districts and states for farm equipment. Managers should motivate beneficiaries to select agro-based units for which there would be good demand, the collector noted.

No less than 36 beneficiaries have selected transport vehicles and the MPDOs concerned must examine the models. Units like mobile tiffin centers, concrete mixing units could be set up because many projects were under construction in the neighborhood.

A study tour to other districts for study of implementation of Dalit Bandhu in other districts should be organized for the beneficiaries. There should be a steady flow of income through the selected units and beneficiaries should bear this in mind when selecting units, Durishetty advised.

Additional Collector K Venkateshwarlu, Constituency Level Special Officers Madhusudhan Raju, Ram Prasad, J Mariyanna, Venkateshwarlu and others were present.
