Launch of a new book distribution program

A new book distribution program began across the country, including the capital, on Saturday, the first day of New Years 2022 after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the book distribution program on December 30.

Students in some schools received new books on Saturday without any “Book Festival” like the previous two years due to the covid.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the virtual book distribution program during a program at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on December 30, after which some students received books from Education Minister Dipu Moni and Minister of State. of Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain.

This year the books will be distributed for a week at different times and days instead of on the same day.

This year, over 4.17 crore of students are expected to receive over 34.70 crore in free books.

Sources from the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) told TBS they could finish printing 175 lakh of secondary books out of the 25 crore total by December 29. Out of this total of pounds, an exit order has been issued for 20 pounds crore to date.

Seeking to remain anonymous, an NCTB official informed that it would take another week to finish printing the high school books. But the printing of the primary school books is finished.

(Additional) NCTB’s book distribution controller Saidur Rahman said the admission process to educational institutions will continue throughout January and classes will start from February 1. High school books would reach 20 days before class starts.
