Redrawing the limits of army command along the Chinese border, a step towards the creation of theater commands – Jammu Kashmir Latest news | Tourism

New Delhi, November 20: The redistribution of the boundaries of the Indian army commands dealing with the Chinese border is a step towards the creation of theater commands and this will contribute to better management of resources.
In a step towards better management of border resources, the Indian army recently placed the entire border along the Chinese border in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand under central command based in Lucknow.
The Western Command based in Chandimandir has now been asked to focus primarily on the Pakistani front, the sources said.
“As we move towards the creation of new theater commands, this reference to the boundaries and responsibilities of operational commands was important,” government sources said.
The Ministry of Military Affairs headed by the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat, has been tasked by the government with creating theater commands in order to improve the articulation between the three war services.
The Chinese border was previously managed by the North, West, Center and East commands of the Indian army, but it will now be managed by only three commands.
Sources said that when the theater commands are created, the western command will also be withdrawn from Jammu and Kashmir where it is taking care of a small part of the Jammu sector.
The growing responsibility of the central command is also important because the current commander of the central army, Lieutenant General Y Dimri, is also leading the study for the creation of the eastern theater which would take care of the entire Chinese border of Himachal. Pradesh to Arunachal Pradesh.
The territories of the union of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh would continue to be taken over by the Northern command, as the whole area is very sensitive and would gradually be placed under theater commands.
The three defense forces have been asked to submit their respective study reports on the establishment of new theater commands by April and the Indian army has appointed the commander of the central army, Lt. Gen. Dimri and the commander. of the Southwest Army, Lieutenant General AS Bhinder, to conduct the study.
The Indian Army has also increased the distribution of forces for the northern and eastern fronts with China, as an additional corps with an armored division has been assigned to the Ladakh region.
The eastern front was also provided with a fully-fledged Mountain Strike Corps to thwart any misadventure in the Arunachal sector by the Chinese army.
The corps has also trained with other services to wage war on offensive operations in the eastern sector. (Agencies)
