SIKA STRENGTHENS ACCESS TO THE DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL IN CANADA

Sika acquires Sable Marco Inc., a manufacturer of cementitious products and mortars in Canada. Based in Pont Rouge, near Quebec City, the complementary acquisition will open new opportunities for Sika in the Eastern Canada region and will clearly improve Sika’s access to the retail distribution network. The acquired company generates an annual turnover of CHF 20 million.

Sable Marco has established a strong presence in the distribution channel and an excellent relationship with major national and regional building supply stores and DYI retail chains. The customer base is very complementary to Sika and the acquisition will help develop relationships with new high-potential customers. Sable Marco operates a plant in the Quebec City area providing logistical and strategic advantages to Sika Canada. This location will allow Sika to expand its reach and better serve its customers in the eastern part of the country. Sable Marco’s product line includes cementitious products, mortars, polymeric sand and other bagged materials. Synergies will be generated by exploring cross-selling potential for Sika’s target markets, building waterproofing and finishing through additional channels, better geographic access, as well as opportunities that open up in the growing category of polymeric sands.

Christoph Ganz, Regional Director Americas: “With the acquisition of Sable Marco, Sika Canada will expand its penetration with mass merchandisers, renovation centers and building trades, which, in line with our strategic plan, will increase the sales generated by the distribution channel. . We warmly welcome the employees of Sable Marco to the Sika family and look forward to successfully growing our business together in the Canadian market.
