Since sending troops to Ukraine on February 24, Russia has fought with big tech companies to regulate the flow of information, delaying Twitter’s service and blocking Facebook and Instagram from Meta.

According to Roskomnadzor, a communications watchdog, Russia has blocked access to the SoundCloud music streaming app due to “false information” about what Moscow calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine (RKN).

Along with publishing documents containing incorrect information about the nature of the special military operation on Ukrainian soil, Roskomnadzor restricted access to the SoundCloud service, according to Interfax, citing RKN.

He added that the information in question related to the form and methods of warfare of the special operation, including “attacks on civilians, strikes on civilian infrastructure, numerous civilian casualties at the hands of Russian soldiers”. He claimed that access to the service was blocked at the request of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office.
