Technology companies and insurers work together to ensure site safety

Zyter, a digital health and IoT enablement platform, today announced its collaboration with Zurich North America, Qualcomm Technologies, and Rudolph Libbe Group (RLG), to advance the use of l AI-based Internet of Things (IoT). technologies to improve construction safety.

The goal is to help prevent incidents and accidents on the job site that can lead to serious injury and costly property damage.

The five companies bring together technology and risk knowledge to provide site managers with a 360-degree view of construction sites and real-time alerts about worker compliance with safety regulations. The collaboration is the next step in moving construction safety from a reactive to a proactive approach, Zyter said.

Zyter’s SmartSpaces platform, analytics and front-end dashboard are integrated with Everguard’s Sentri360 AI platform, made possible through the Qualcomm Smart Cities Accelerator program and Qualcomm IoT suite of services. RLG, a construction and facilities service provider, will test the collaborative solution on one of its construction sites, starting in September 2021. RLG’s insurance provider, Zurich North America, will monitor the impact and assess the solution for use with other construction clients.

“This collaboration takes best practices in construction site management and worker safety to a new level,” said Sanjay Govil, Founder and CEO of Zyter. “Together, we’re making worker safety more manageable for the construction industry by providing better visibility across a site.

“Zurich connects our customers with innovative technological solutions that prioritize the health and safety of their workers, which is essential to deliver quality work both on time and on budget,” said Jon Tate, vice president of construction risk engineering for Zurich North America. “Through this collaboration, we are exploring how to improve the ability of construction site managers to see and stop risky behavior and identify any need for additional training and other resources to support safety in the future. We want to help customers like RLG prevent accidents and injuries, and potentially save lives. “

Using a continuous flow of real-time data from IoT devices on workers and building materials, this collaborative solution will provide the Zyter dashboard with a seamless, down-to-the-second view of what’s happening across the board. of the construction site. Additionally, with advanced data visualization, analytics, and intelligent insight, construction companies will be able to easily monitor and resolve events, operational issues, and incidents. Advanced analytics will help construction companies determine worker productivity and safety scores, as well as gain a better understanding of other metrics related to construction site management.

Initial efforts will focus on using AI and computer vision (CV) to improve safety protocols already in place at construction sites for initiatives such as personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance ) and the geolocation of restricted areas.
