SRINAGAR, MAY 07 (KNS): Kashmir Director of Agriculture, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated the 3rd phase of the vegetable seedling distribution campaign at Kitchen Garden Premises Lalmandi here.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director appreciated the efforts of the concerned officers/managers of Kitchen Garden, Hi-tech Poly House Installations and said that the Department is vigorously pursuing the ambitious goal of providing 2.5 crore seedlings of different vegetable crops to the farming community. in the region this year.
He said the Department has introduced many initiatives to ensure the availability of vegetable seedlings all year round to farmers.
In the current agro-economic context, the director stressed the importance of the varied cultivation of vegetables for the region. He said boosting vegetable cultivation in the region could play a vital role in achieving economic security for the farming community.
“Our climatic conditions are among the most suitable in the country for the cultivation of vegetables (traditional, exotic) and to harness this potential, a collaborative approach is required in which the agricultural community and the Department must come forward and work hand in hand. said Iqbal.
The director instructed the concerned officers to organize farmer sensitization/training programs with emphasis on vegetable cultivation so that more and more farmers, uneducated young people can adopt it on commercial lines .
Joint Director of Agricultural Farms, Deputy Director of Planning, Kashmir Seed Production Officer, Divisional Seed Certification Officer and other officers were present on the occasion. (KNS)
